Eritrea, officially the State of Eritrea, is a country situated in northern East Africa. It is bordered by Sudan in the west, Ethiopia in the south, and Djibouti in the southeast. The east and northeast of the country have an extensive coastline on the Red Sea, directly across from Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The Dahlak Archipelago and several of the Hanish Islands are part of Eritrea. Eritrea is a new entrant in the RBC initiative, having joined in January 2008. The National RBC Network is represented at the regional level by Toker Integrated Community Development (TICD), which is the National Focal Point. The entry of Eritrean CSOs into the initiative is a pragmatic attempt to broaden cross-border programmes aimed at fulfilling the mandates of the Network. Therefore the initiative stands to benefit immensely from the experiences and contextual expertise that will be useful to all the members in their activities.
