Vision Peace and prosperity for the people of the Horn and East Africa through enhanced livelihoods Mission To reduce resource based conflicts in Kenya and the Horn and East Africa region through a formal platform of civil society, NGOs, grassroots community initiatives and government agencies involved in conflict transformation and mitigation. Objectives - To undertake research to clearly identify, define, document, bring to the recognition of the various actors in the region the root causes of resource based conflicts;
- To establish the necessary institutional frameworks and capacity to address resource based conflicts in the region and elsewhere;
- To participate in and strengthen development processes that integrate conflict sensitivity and management as an integral part of planning and implementation;
- To focus on and support the formulation of effective and meaningful policies and legal frameworks to address resource based conflicts in the region;
- Strengthen the management and technical skills of member organizations to enhance service delivery to their respective communities;
- Enhance and promote collaboration and networking with other partners at the community, national, regional and international levels;
- Liaise with the respective governments and other institutions and agencies including donors, NGOs, CBOs etc to advance the aims and objects of the Network.
- To articulate the needs, concerns and aspirations of common interest to the National Focal Points (NFP) at the national, regional, and international levels.
- To educate communities in the region the main causes of resource based conflicts in with a view to promoting a better understanding leading to enhanced community interaction, dialogue and peace building for their own well-being.
