Mr. Ekuam, 48, possesses a Master of Arts (MA) degree in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American Public University and holds post Graduate Certificates in Conflict Analysis, and Interfaith Conflict Resolution from United States Institute of Peace (USIP). He is currently undertaking a Masters degree in Development Studies (MDS) at St. Paul’s University in Limuru, Kenya.

He has vast experience in conflict and human security matters having worked with the civil service under the Office of the President in Kenya in the Provincial Administration as a District Commissioner in various Districts. He is a trained development and management consultant under World Bank’s development associate, African Project Development Facility (APDF).

Mr. Ekuam has not only had strong liaison and networking experience with civil society in Kenya, but has also been involved in elective politics in the country. He chairs the Management Board of the regional Resource Based Conflict Management
Network (http://www.rbc.or.ke), an international conflict management NGO that works in the Greater Horn of Africa and draws its membership from Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Sudan (both south and north), and Tanzania.

Mr. Ekuam has also undertaken several studies on various fields including Conflict Management, Pastoralism Livelihoods, Policy Advocacy, Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW), Livestock Identification, Traceability and Tracking in the IGAD region, etc. He is a member of the Evidence Based Policy in Development Network (EBPDN) http://www.ebpdn.org/. He currently works as an independent consultant and a Senior Conflicts and Peacebuilding Advisor with the Centre for Minority Rights Development (CEMIRIDE) - http://www.cemiride.info

Mr. Ekuam is married with four children.
